What Is Detox Mental
Almost 2000 years go, somewhere between 170 and 180 AD, one of the most famous books of history was written without the intention of being published at all.
Emperor Marcus Aurelius kept a personal journal during his war campaigns and used it to dump his deepest, most pressing thoughts into paper. He did this for years.
Centuries after his death, his private reflections were recovered and published as what we now know as Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations, and one of the book’s most compelling features is its format: a collection of short, thought-provoking entries that are often unrelated to one another.
In other words, you can read it in 10-minute chunks and it would be totally fine, as there’s no overarching story or thesis to be followed—only concise reflections are found there.
I’ve always been fascinated by this format, and of course, always thought about what it would be like to write my own meditations.
Not only that, but I’ve also wondered: what would it be like to read the meditations of truly inspiring people from today’s age? Leaders, athletes, artists, thinkers?
I may not be as interesting as the great Emperor Marcus Aurelius (basically a rock star in his day and even more so today), but there are people currently alive who are absolutely as interesting as he was.
So how to get their meditations?
That’s the job of Detox Mental—an online platform to scan your handwriting journaling entries and turn them into a book: your own meditations written through a long period of time, in digital format, and ready to share either privately or publicly.
We all have something to say. Detox helps you build it day to day.
